Identity proofing - the heart of eIDs
Identity proofing is key for many online interactions. Knowing who's at the 'other side' enables people and businesses to engage in high value, high trust interactions. The obvious challenge is to acquire this knowledge in a manner which is easy to use, reliable and privacy friendly.
In a joint session Irwin Oedayrajsingh Varma (JanusID), Maarten Wegdam (ReadID) and Martin Sandren (Nixu) present and discuss the various options for identity proofing, and how it relates to eIDs. Always a risk-benefit balance needs to be determined. Some cases require direct, first hand identification of a person, while for others derived identification through an eID suffices.
